Cow is the term for adult female Cattle. Heifer is a young female.

meushi written with kanji is 雌牛.
These are jouyou kanji 常用漢字, taught in junior high, chuugakkou 中学校.

meushi written with katakana is メウシ.
meushi written with hiragana is めうし.

meushi may also be written as 牝牛.
